At Lavender House, we pride ourselves on offering a relaxed and exclusive venue for your special occasion. You can be assured that the only guests within the Hotel and Grounds, are your guests, enjoying your special day.

Take advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings and enhance your special day by way of our Garden Ceremony. You can have your ceremony conducted in our Gazebo, enjoying panoramic views of picturesque Dartmoor, if you are looking for a Mediterranean feel, this provides the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy the freedom we can offer, to incorporate exactly what you want into your day. Your guests can enjoy your special day, relaxing in our gardens, whilst benefiting from having the facilities of the hotel to hand.









Equally our function suite is licensed for civil ceremonies and should the weather be inclement, or your ceremony is during the colder months, this room provides a light, airy, relaxed atmosphere for your celebration, with seating to accommodate approximately 150 guests for the ceremony itself and for a sit down meal.





For a more intimate occasion our small reception room is available for gatherings of up to 35 guests, this rooms has a true country feel to it with low beams but benefits from a light airy extension providing a very pleasant ambiance.



For larger functions we have the ability to join the two rooms together to provide seating for up to 200 guests.

The Country Bar is available for guests to use prior to your ceremony and indeed on colder days is very popular with its log fire, low beams and lounge furniture.



At Lavender House we offer you several years of experience when it comes to organizing special occasions and are happy to pass this on to aid you with your Wedding Ceremony and the Reception thereafter. From putting you in contact with the Registrars covering our area, to helping you with ideas for your ceremony, juggling seating plans so that all your guests are happy, ideas for entertainment during the day and for evening receptions, to simply just listening to your concerns should you have any, we are here to help you, and without the added costs of 'Wedding Co-Ordinators'.

Keith & Carol Earley, the proprietors of Lavender House, have a very cherished 1951 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, for special occasions such as your Wedding they are very willing to make it available with a chauffeur for transporting you from a Church ceremony to Lavender House for your reception, or alternatively are happy for you to use it for photographs on the lawn if you are having a civil ceremony at the hotel.



We will endeavour to make your special occasion one you will remember with fondness and will look after you and your respective families with the utmost of care.

Invariably your day will incorporate a meal for your guests, whether it be a Finger Buffet or a three course meal, we put a lot of care and thought into helping you decide on what will be the best option for you. We welcome you to arrange a meeting with our Chef if need be and design a meal for all to enjoy. Unusually we offer the option to present your guests with a choice of menu, normally incorporated into your invitations as a pre-selection choice, where you can ask them to select between perhaps three starter courses, four main courses and three dessert courses, therefore eradicating the problem of choosing one meal to suit every ones taste.

As the hotel offers exclusive use only, bedroom accommodation would only be let to your guests for the night of your wedding. Of course some guests have a long journey and look forward to meeting with family and may well consider staying extra nights. Several Wedding Parties choose to start their celebrations the night before the ceremony, gathering at the hotel for dinner or in fine weather a Barbeque is popular, families can meet, sometimes for the first time, and use the evening to catch up with family, leaving the ceremony day itself free for them to enjoy thoroughly. Likewise many Wedding Parties opt to have a light breakfast the morning after the Wedding and participate in meeting for lunch at the hotel. Whatever you want to incorporate into your special day, we will do our best to include this.

As Weddings are, by their nature, family affairs, we welcome children at the hotel, we have a small range of play equipment in the garden, there is also a flat lawn area to the side of the hotel where we often have a bouncy castle situated. Other ideas for children could be their own entertainer, worth their weight in gold, will keep your little ones occupied whilst you enjoy your meal without interruption, yet peaceful in the knowledge that not only are they in the room next door, but also that there would be no one within the hotel who is not an employee or a guest.
